Pre-Kindergarten (4-5 years)
Welcome to Discovery Station Learning Centers Pre-Kindergarten Program! With such an emphasis on the importance of Kindergarten readiness today, our stimulating Pre-K program stresses development of the whole child: socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Our goal is to help your Pre-Kindergartener continue to develop a strong sense of self by presenting them with new challenges in a loving and nurturing environment. Your child’s love of learning will soar to new heights and will enable them to become trusting and self-confident Kindergarteners!
Primary Educators and Ratio:
All Pre-Kindergarteners enrolled at Discovery Station Learning Center will be assigned to a Primary Educator to help them find comfort in their environment. Primary Educators are responsible for helping your child through their daily challenges, helping them to foster good friendships, and building their self-esteem. Discovery Station always adheres to the Adult to Child ratio mandated by the State of Virginia for this age group (1:10). However, the presence of our additional assistant teacher allows us to follow a lower Adult to Child Ratio of 1:8 throughout our academic day.
Curriculum and Schedule:
Students in our Pre-Kindergarten Program will find excitement around every corner, inside and out! Using a curriculum rich in art, science, and language, our Pre-Kindergarteners learn new and exciting ways to express themselves. Our daily program highlights include Spanish, Sign Language, and Music as well as daily trips to the Technology Station, Creation Station, and the Discovery Center Library. Whether you chose our half day or full day Pre-Kindergarten Program, you can be assured that your child will be have the experiences they need to become happy, healthy, successful Kindergarteners!
