Infants
Young Infants (6 weeks - 10 months), Older Infants (10 months - 16 months)
Welcome to the Infant Program at Discovery Station Learning Center! We know that young children learn best when all of their senses are engaged. Our program integrates each of the five senses in weekly lesson plans that are written to your child's specific needs, and their experiences are lovingly guided by our experienced caregivers.
Core Care Groups and Ratios
It's a known fact that young children, and especially infants, thrive on repetition. That's why at Discovery Station, your child will have an assigned professional caregiver that will tend to their every need, from feeding to diaper changing to sensory play. These Core Care Givers will give infants the consistency they need and crave in order to thrive, and give your child a sense of security in an insecure world. Our teachers follow an adult to child ratio of 1:3 in our Young Infants class, and 1:4 in the Older Infants Classroom.
Curriculum and Schedule
Young children are very curious about the world around them, and infants certainly are no exception! Our teachers understand this about children, and use this natural curiosity as the basis for activities they develop for each child on their individual weekly lesson plans. You can expect your child to engage in many different sensory experiences each day, as well as rich in exposure to language, books, and music. Introduction to nature is another key element in our curriculum, and we offer our infants plenty of time to safely explore outdoors and to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air in play areas specially constructed for this age group. Buggy Rides throughout other stations in the school are also common, as infants learn a great deal by simply being exposed to new sights, sounds, and interactions. Discovery Station Learning Center's Infant Program truly is the first stop on your baby's track to learning.
